Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 22, 2026
Last updated: October 22, 2026
The short version: Tap-In runs through your gym. We collect what we need to run your account, start and end your sessions, and give your gym its totals. Your gym sees your name and that you're a member, plus totals across all members. It never sees your sessions. If you join your gym's leaderboard, other members and staff see your display name and days trained. We don't sell your data and we don't show ads. Your Apple Health data and the list of apps you block stay on your phone. When you start a workout from the app, Tap-In checks whether you're at your gym and keeps only that answer, never your coordinates. Questions: info@thetapinapp.net.
1. Who we are
Tap-In is a trade name of Famedia LLC, a New York limited liability company ("Tap-In," "we," "us"). This policy covers the Tap-In app, the gym dashboard at app.thetapinapp.net, and the website at thetapinapp.net.
Tap-In is offered to gyms, which pay for it. Gym members use it free through their gym. Gym staff use the dashboard to manage their gym.
Tap-In is for people 18 or older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has an account, email info@thetapinapp.net and we will delete it.
2. What we collect from members
Account. Your email address, which you sign in with using a one-time code we email you. Your first name. Your last name, only if you choose to add it. Your confirmation that you are 18 or older.
Gym membership. Which gym you joined by tapping its stand, the date you joined, and whether your membership is active or was removed. Tap-In works only through a gym.
Sessions. For each session: when it started and ended, the workout type you picked, how it ended (a tap on a stand, the End button, leaving your gym's area, a timer, or an emergency unlock in challenge mode), whether it was a challenge, whether it was confirmed at your gym, the gym and the stands you tapped, and whether each tap was verified. If you add notes or your bodyweight to a session, we store those too, so your history follows you to a new phone.
Taps. When you tap a stand, your phone sends us the stand's signed tap data. Our server checks it to confirm the tap is real and to identify the stand. We record the stand, the time, and whether the tap was verified. Your phone never sends a tag ID of its own.
Location. With your permission ("While Using"), the app takes a location reading when you start a workout from the app, and when you open it inside your gym during a workout you started somewhere else. Our server checks each reading against your gym's area, stores only whether you were inside it, and discards the coordinates. During a workout confirmed at your gym, the app watches your gym's area in the background so it can end the workout when you leave, and takes one more reading to confirm you left; iOS shows the blue location indicator while it does. We store the time you left, never where you went. We don't keep a location history and never share your location with your gym.
Leaderboard. If you join your gym's leaderboard, we store the display name you choose and your days trained, which other members and staff of your gym can see. You can leave it at any time.
Blocked app attempts. If you tap the button on the Shield screen that appears when you open a blocked app, the app counts that tap. We store the count for the session. We don't learn which app you tried to open.
Technical data. Our hosting providers keep standard server logs, which can include IP addresses and request times, to run and secure the service.
3. What stays on your phone
- The apps you block. Tap-In uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls). Your app choices are handled by iOS on your phone. We never receive which apps you block or how you use other apps.
- Apple Health data. With your permission, Tap-In reads workout data such as heart rate and calories from Apple Health to show your session stats, and records a workout in Apple Health when none exists. These values are read on your phone each time they are shown and are never sent to our servers. Your synced sessions include only a reference that links a session to its Apple Health workout, with no health measurements. We never use Apple Health data for advertising or marketing, and we never share it. You can turn off Health access at any time in your iPhone's Settings.
- Photos you attach to a session stay on your phone.
4. What your gym sees
- About you: your first name, your last name if you added it, the date you joined, and whether you are an active member. Staff use this to manage their member list, for example to remove someone who has left the gym. If you join the leaderboard, your gym also sees your display name and days trained that week.
- About everyone together: totals such as sessions at your gym, active members, average session length, what members say they train, and when members train. Only workouts confirmed at your gym count; workouts elsewhere never reach your gym.
- Never: your individual sessions, session times, notes, bodyweight, Health data, which apps you block, or your email address.
The app tells you when you join that your gym will see your name.
5. What we collect from gym staff
Your email address and which gym you manage. Billing between a gym and Tap-In is covered by the gym's agreement with us. Card or bank details for gym invoices are handled by our payment processor, Stripe, and never stored by us.
6. What we collect on the website
The website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. If you request a demo or email us, we get what you send us, such as your name, gym, town, and email address or phone number, and we use it only to reply. If you check the texting box, we may text you about your demo request. We don't add you to a marketing list.
7. How we use information
To run your account and sign you in, start and end sessions, verify taps, confirm whether a workout happened at your gym, end workouts when you leave, run the leaderboard, keep your history in sync across devices, give your gym its member list and totals, provide support, keep the service secure and prevent misuse (such as faked taps), improve Tap-In, and meet legal obligations.
8. Who we share it with
We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. We share it only with:
- Your gym, as described in section 4.
- Service providers that run Tap-In for us: Supabase (database and sign-in), Vercel (website and dashboard hosting), Resend (sign-in codes and email), Stripe (gym invoicing), and Apple (App Store distribution, and Screen Time and Apple Health on your phone).
- Legal reasons, when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of Tap-In, gyms, or members.
- A business transfer, if Tap-In is sold or merged, under this policy.
9. How long we keep it
- Your account, sessions, and history: until you delete your account.
- Tap records: kept for as long as your gym uses Tap-In. When you delete your account, your name is removed from them.
- Gym membership: until you or your gym ends it, or you delete your account.
- Leaderboard: weekly standings reset each week; your display name is kept until you leave the leaderboard or delete your account.
- Demo requests and emails: as long as needed to follow up.
- Server logs and backups: a limited period, after which they are deleted on our providers' schedules.
10. Deleting your account
Delete your account in the app under Settings, or email info@thetapinapp.net. Deleting your account removes your profile, sessions, and gym membership, and removes your name from tap records. Some data may remain in backups for a limited time.
11. Your choices and rights
You can see and edit your name in the app, delete sessions, delete your account, turn off Apple Health or Screen Time access in Settings, turn off location in Settings (workouts still run, but those started from the app won't count for your gym unless you tap a stand, and leaving won't end them), and leave the leaderboard. You can also ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, at info@thetapinapp.net.
California residents have the right to know what we collect, to request deletion and correction, and not to be treated differently for using these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as California law defines those terms.
EEA and UK residents may also have rights to data portability, to object, and to complain to a data protection authority. Our legal bases are providing the service you signed up for, our legitimate interest in running and securing it, and your consent for Apple Health access.
12. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest with our providers. Taps are checked on our server with each stand's cryptographic signature. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you as the law requires.
13. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
